Troopers: Teen Faces Charges After Throwing Hot Chocolate on Driver

A Patterson teenager is facing harassment and reckless endangerment charges after she threw a hot beverage on her mother—who was behind the wheel of a vehicle that was carrying a young child in the back seat—police say.

State troopers from the Southeast Barracks arrested the 17-year-old after her mother filed a complaint with the agency.

She and the girl, along with two relatives, a teenager and a toddler, were traveling on Mount Ebo Road in Southeast when an argument erupted, according to officials.

The teen is alleged to have taken a cup of recently-purchased hot chocolate and thrown it on the mother, who was operating the vehicle. She was not injured.

After conducting an investigation, police arrested the teen Dec. 1, on the following charges: two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors; second-degree harassment, a violation; and second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.

Authorities released the defendant to her mother, pending a future court appearance in Southeast Justice Court.
