Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Kitchen Prep Crew

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

Kitchen Prep Crew
Volunteers are invited into the Second Chance Foods kitchen on Monday afternoons to help prepare donated produce and other rescued food for weekly cook days. This food will be used to create hundreds of meals for neighbors in need. Volunteers who have cooking and kitchen prep experience are especially welcome!
Date: Sept. 18; Mondays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

BIKE HSS Cycling Event Volunteers
BIKE HSS is a one-day cycling event during which participants ride along a 25- or 62-mile route in support of improved mobility and musculoskeletal health for people worldwide. The event includes a festival with food, entertainment, and more. Volunteers are needed to assist with event setup and cleanup, registration, and cheering on participants; they will receive a complimentary T-shirt and baseball hat, and meals will be provided.
Date: Sept. 23 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.; multiple shifts available

Brick Alley Block Party
GARNER Arts Center's annual Brick Alley Block Party is an exciting nightlife event featuring deejays, videos, immersive art pop-ups, crafts beverages, food, and other surprises. Volunteers are needed to help with setup, box office, bartending, serving as gallery attendants and other projects. Prior event experience is preferred. Please note: this is an adults-only event!
Date: Sept. 23 from 8 p.m. to midnight

Youth Aviation Program Volunteer
The White Plains Youth Bureau is seeking a licensed pilot—either current or retired—to help provide guidance and instruction on a flight simulator to youth in grades 5-12 participating in its aviation program. This program takes place after school on weekdays as well as on Saturdays as determined by the volunteer's availability. Please note: volunteers must be either a current or retired licensed pilot in order to participate.
Date: Flexible schedule; Monday-Friday between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
