Man Cut Off Wife's Arms And 2 Fingers In Sunset Park, Police Say

SUNSET PARK, NY — A man severed his wife's arm and cut off two of her fingers in Sunset Park on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The 35-year-old woman was in her home near 55th Street and Fifth Avenue when her husband attacked her with a knife at about 12:19 p.m., a spokeswoman for the NYPD said.

He severed her right arm below her bicep then cut off two of her fingers on her left hand, police said. He ran out of the apartment before police arrived.

The woman, who is also 35-years-old, was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Police recovered the knife in the apartment and are still searching for the husband.
