Feds Launch 'Interagency Operation' At Diddy's Brooklyn Jail

The federal operation is designed to maintain safety at the jail, but the precise details are unknown.

BROOKLYN, NY — Federal investigators from several different agencies launched an "interagency operation" at Metropolitan Detention Center, the notorious Sunset Park jail where Sean "Diddy" Combs is being held, on Monday morning.

The federal operation is designed to maintain safety at the jail, officials from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) told Patch. But, officials did not disclose the precise details of the operation.

"In an effort to maintain the safety and security of all personnel inside the facility and the integrity of this operation, we are unable to provide additional information at this time," a spokesperson for the BOP said.

The agencies taking part in this operation include the BOP, the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General, and other law enforcement partners, the spokesperson said.

Just this month, nine inmates were accused of several acts of violence which resulted in the death of two other inmates at the jail, and one of its corrections officers was also charged with chasing a civilian car for five miles and shooting a passenger inside.

Federal investigators told Patch that the operation was "preplanned" and that there was no active threat in the jail.

This operation comes a month after the Bureau of Prisons introduced a Brooklyn Urgent Action Team, which has made several changes to the jail, including increasing staffing levels, increasing correction officer pay, and introducing telehealth services for people in custody.

"The decision to use this novel approach and create this Team reflects the serious nature of the conditions at MDC," BOP officials said in September.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
