VIDEO: Mosque Attacker Used Hammer To Damage Brooklyn Buildings
The man used a hammer to damage property at mosques in Sunset Park and Bay Ridge.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Police have released video of a man they say is behind two hammer attacks at mosques in Sunset Park and Bay Ridge.
The NYPD didn't say which mosque the video was filmed at, but the footage shows the man holding a hammer and hacking away at one of the buildings.

The attacks started on Saturday night around 5:20 p.m., when he smashed the windows and broke a security camera at the Beit El-Maqdis Islamic Center in Sunset Park, on 6th Avenue near 63rd Street, police said.
About 30 minutes later, he appeared at the Fatih Camii Mosque, on Eighth Avenue near 60th Street in Bay Ridge, according to police.

There, the destroyed the building's front doorbell, door knob and mailbox, according to police. He fled east on 59th Street and has not been caught.
The NYPD is investigating the incidents as a hate crime.
