Sunset Park Man Arrested For Mosque Hammer Attacks: Police

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — A Sunset Park man was arrested for using a hammer to damage property at two Brooklyn mosques this month, police said.

Moy Hu, who lives on 59th Street, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two counts of criminal mischief, according to police.

The attacks started on Saturday night, Nov. 11, around 5:20 p.m., when he smashed the windows and broke a security camera at the Beit El-Maqdis Islamic Center in Sunset Park, on 6th Avenue near 63rd Street, police said.

About 30 minutes later, he appeared at the Fatih Camii Mosque, on Eighth Avenue near 60th Street in Bay Ridge, according to police.

There, the destroyed the building's front doorbell, door knob and mailbox, according to police. He then fled east on 59th Street.
