College Signs Agreement on Products

New York College of Health Professions and Wake Forest Innovations, an enterprise of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Wake Forest University, have signed an agreement to develop and commercialize certain technologies and products from both institutions.

Lisa Pamintuan, president of New York College and an alumna of Wake Forest University, said, "We are thrilled to join forces with Wake Forest University and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center which is ranked in the top five by Forbes Magazine for return on investment in its intellectual property assets."

Michael Batalia, executive director of product commercialization at Wake Forest Innovations said, "We are pleased to enter this collaboration with New York College, which holds the promise both of bringing many of the novel technologies of New York College quickly to market and of helping Wake Forest to more rapidly commercialize certain of our unique proprietary technologies into high-value healthcare consumer and industrial products."

 Donald Spector, chairman of New York College, and an inventor, will be  involved in the project. He previously worked with the Squibb Corporation (Bristol-Myers Squibb), which set up a separate division exclusively for his patents.

Spector added, "We are extremely proud to join forces with Wake Forest in this promising collaboration that will combine the benefits of a small, nimble and innovative institution with those of one of the great university centers in the world."
