Expect Nightly Lane Closures On Jericho Turnpike Starting July 30

Maintenance work on the bridge that goes over the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway is expected to be completed this winter.

A section of Jericho Turnpike in the Syosset/Woodbury area will be closed nightly starting Monday, July 30 as workers continue to perform maintenance on the bridge that goes over the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway, according to New York State Department of Transportation.

The nightly lane closures will take place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. as workers finish up repairs underneath the bridge, which include repairing the joint systems, strengthening the structural steel and painting.

NYSDOT has placed construction signs in the area to advise motorists.

Work on this bridge, which began in fall of 2017, is expected to be completed this winter. The bridge work is part of NYSDOT's $13.5 million project to repair and extend the lifelines of six bridges in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

According to NYDOT, work may be canceled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.
