Syosset High School Soccer Team Jumps In National Rankings
After a hot start, a Syosset high school girls soccer team has jumped in national rankings.
SYOSSET, NY — After a scorching start to the fall season, the unbeaten Syosset High School girls soccer team has jumped in the national rankings.
The Braves entered the season unranked in the USA Today/United Soccer Coaches Super 25 preseason poll. But the girls rattled off six straight wins and have outscored opponents 19-4, notching three shutouts along the way. That includes a 3-0 win over Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK in their last match and a 5-0 drubbing over East Meadow in the previous game.
The hot start has Syosset ranked No. 12 in the country, one spot behind Jesuit in Portland, Oregon, and just ahead of Edina in Minnesota.

Meanwhile, the Jamesville-DeWitt High School girls were the top-ranked team in the state, earning a No. 6 national ranking through the first week of October. Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees Township, New Jersey, was ranked No. 1 overall.
The Braves will travel to Farmingdale (1-4) on Thursday afternoon to take on a team that gave Syosset arguably its toughest match. On Sept. 11, Sysosset defeated Farmingdale 2-1, its lowest scoring total of the season.
