Town Dek Hockey Registration Starts Soon

SYOSSET, NY — Registration is starting soon for the Town of Oyster Bay's Spring Youth Dek Hockey Legaue. Registration will be done both online and in-person, and is open to boy and girls ages 6-12. The season starts on Sept. 12.

Dek hockey is a variation of traditional ice hockey, where the games are played without skates on the 'dek' of an ice rink after the ice has melted away for the season. The season will feature 10 games, weekly practices and an end-of-season playoff competition. Openings are also available for coaches for the fall 2022 season.

Online registration will take place from Aug. 29 to 31 beginning at 9 a.m. at oysterbaytown.com/parks. To register, please login to or create an account, and be prepared to upload a copy of the child's birth certificate (for first-time registrants).

In person registration will take place on Sept. 6 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Syosset-Woodbury Park Skate House, and Sept. 7 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Park Community Room. The program will cost $95 for residents, and $110 for non-residents. Each child will need to provide their own equipment, a list of which will be supplied upon registration.

Families must provide a copy of their child's birth certificate at in-person registration, and checks, money order and credit cards will be accepted. If a session is canceled due to inclement weather, make-up day(s) will be attempted. For more information, please call (516) 433-7465 ext. 8234.
