Woman Dies After Being Hit By Pickup In Nassau; Toddler Hurt: Police

The woman and a 1-year-old were crossing the street when they were struck by a pickup truck, police say.

JERICHO, NY — A woman is dead, and a 1-year-old are injured, after they were struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street in Jericho on Wednesday, Nassau County Police said.

At about 9:17 a.m., Jiajue Li, 62, of Westbury, was carrying a 1-year-old boy while crossing northbound on Jericho Turnpike at Aintree Road.

A 2015 Ford pickup truck traveling westbound then struck the pair on Jericho Turnpike.

Li sustained head and torso trauma and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where she was in critical condition, police said.

She later died of her injuries around 8:50 p.m., police said.

The 1-year-old child was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The 32-year-old driver of the Ford remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
