GREENBURGH, NY — Proposed reuse of retail space at a shopping center in Greenburgh is the subject of an ongoing public hearing.

Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said the Town Board will hold a fourth public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Monday to discuss an amended site plan application for Midway Shopping Center.

The shopping center is proposing the conversion of existing retail space — the former Dress Barn — to a restaurant and quick service/fast food and space and the construction of expanded outdoor dining area and reconfiguration of the parking layout and driveway improvements.

To accomplish that, developers want to remove 46 parking spaces that require a shared parking reduction from the Planning Board.

Having extensively reviewed the project, the Planning Board rendered a positive recommendation on the site plan, Feiner said.

Residents who use the Midway Shopping Center, at Ardsley Road and Central Avenue, who have comments should email the Town Board.

“Speaking personally, I would like to see an improved sidewalk on Ardsley Road from Fort Hill to Central Ave.,” Feiner said.

He added that a possible next step might be a study that determines how to address pedestrian safety on Ardsley Road that would encourage more people to walk to the shopping center instead of driving since there will be fewer parking spots and two restaurants.
