Greenburgh Seeking Applicants For Town Youth Poet Laureate
To apply, the young person must live or go to school in Greenburgh and be between 16 and 20 years of age.

GREENBURG, NY — Greenburgh’s Arts and Culture Committee has re-launched its search for the town’s first youth poet laureate.
The poet selected for the two-year, non-paying position will be charged with encouraging the creation of original poetry by young people in Greenburgh’s communities, as well as creating or facilitating opportunities for young people to engage in poetry-related activities.
If you are a poet between 16 and 20 years old, live in Greenburgh’s incorporated or unincorporated areas or are a student in a school or college in Greenburgh, you are welcome to apply.

Submit a letter of interest that includes your name, address and the best way to reach you to schedule an interview. Also send samples of your work and two letters of support from adults who are familiar with you and your work.
The deadline for submission of applications is March 1.

Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said it was important for the town to recognize talented young people and provide them with the exposure they deserve.
“Who knows,” he said “the Greenburgh Youth Poet Laureate may one day be the next Amanda Gorman,” who was the youngest poet to read at a presidential inauguration.
