MTA Dog Sniffs Suspicious Bag in Tarrytown

Authorities shut down the Tarrytown train station off for a short time Thursday evening to investigate the contents of a duffel bag.

A suspicious duffel bag left behind at the Tarrytown train station turned out to contain clothing, police report tonight. 

At 6:49 p.m., Tarrytown Police evacuated the train station building and set up a traffic perimeter around the scene as they investigated a bag that was left behind. A bag, appearing to be fully packed, was left unattended on a bench inside the station.

The fire department was dispatched to the scene to assist with traffic control until a K9 unit arrived to check the bag.

The MTA police department K9 unit found the bag to contain miscellaneous clothing items, police said, and the scene was cleared by 7:02 p.m.
