Ossining's HarborFest, Tarrytown's Third Friday

Chappaqua: Chappaqua Community Day

Where/When: Chappaqua Train Station on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: The Rotary Club of Chappaqua invites the community out to check out local vendors, mingle with locals and donate food to benefit the Westchester Food Bank on Saturday.

Dobbs Ferry: RiverArts 50th Anniversary Fundraiser

Where/When: Dobbs Ferry Historical Society on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 5 p.m.

Why go: A silent auction, live music, food and drink and more will help RiverArts celebrate 50 years. Purchase tickets in advance at riverarts.org.

Cost: $50 general admission; $35 artists and seniors

Eastchester: Library Fair

When/Where: Saturday at the Eastchester Public Library, 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester, NY 10709

Why Go: Friends of the Eastchester Public Library (EPL) will host the EPL Library Fair in the library parking lot.  All proceeds will benefit a major renovation that will provide a more lively and modern children's room at EPL. This family event will include crafts, games, food, Lego workshops, and raffles.  The day will also include activities for pets. The Library Fair will include a library mascot competition with a fantastic first prize, a pet poetry contest and a pet look-a-like competition.

Elmsford: Farewell to Summer

Where/When: Captain Lawrence Brewing Company (444 Saw Mill River Rd. Elmsford) on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Why go: Say goodbye to the summer season and welcome fall at the nearby brewery. There will be live music by Frankenstein's Baby, an open bar, snacks and outdoor games like bocce. Proceeds will benefit Student Advocacy. Purchase tickets here.

Ossining: HarborFest

When/Where: 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. (earlier for artists) on Ossining’s Riverfront

Why go: There’s a ton going on today to celebrate Ossining’s waterfront from booths, food, to of course boats. The Shattemuc Yacht Club will be hosting a "Plein Air" for artists, starting at 9am to 3pm, viewing at 3pm to 5pm, auction of the art work at 5pm to 7pm. The Clearwater vessel will be at the Village Pier for the day. The Ossining Boat and Canoe Club will be running a youth fishing program and seineing at the PAL Beach. Shattemuc sailors will be providing free sailing trips from 12pm to 3pm, for the first 15 people in line. Live music at Harbor Square kicks off at 11:30am and continues throughout the day with an eclectic array of musical genres from classic rock, pop, and instrumental jazz to urban folk, new age, and sci-fi rock & pop. KJ Denhert and her band will play the final set, leading to the fireworks display at 10 pm over the Hudson. More information here.

Sleepy Hollow: A Concert & Reading with Paul Allen

Where/When: Hudson Valley Writers' Center on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Why go: Former professor Paul Allen will be performing a selection of his poetry and song lyrics in Sleepy Hollow Saturday evening.

Cost: $5 suggested donation

Tarrytown: 3rd Friday

Where/When: Main Street, North Washington Street, and North Broadway, Tarrytown from 5 to 9 p.m.

Why go: There’s a lot going on at this week’s monthly celebration of business and community in Tarrytown. Stop by W@tercooler’s pop-up shop at 15 North Broadway (second floor) with 12 local vendors. On North Washington Street, the Teacher's Association is sponsoring the bouncy castle. Local farmers will bring out their fall harvest and you'll be able to buy locally grown and organic fruits and veggies, accompanied by live music from The Dwellers. Finally, the firehouse on Main Street will opens its doors for some demos and displays. The members of Ladder-37 and E-79 as well as a few members of other companies will be putting on a display of our tools and gear as well as a few demos at the Main Street Fire Headquarters. They will be showing residents what training as an-all volunteer department they go through, as well as why they "break" doors, walls,or ceilings in homes and offices in the event of a fire. Some of the displays may include: hand and power tools (and what they need them for), PPE (turn-out gear), and how it protects us, our trucks (why are they needed). More info here.

Tarrytown: Village-Wide Tag Sale

Where/When: Saturday, September 21st, from 10 am to 5 pm. Rain date is Sunday, September 22nd.

Why go: bargains galore, all easy accessible by village-wide map here.

White Plains: Dharma & Yoga Festival

Where/When: Highlands Middle School, 128 Grandview Ave., White Plains. Saturday, Sept. 21, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Why go: The event, sponsored by the White Plains Cares Coalition and Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, is aa Grand Spiritual Celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.  There will be a fancy costume competition of Indian Persona (registration mandatory); game, a special Yoga session, storytelling sessions, skits on Swami Vivekananda, face painting and much more. Yorktown: Fieldhome’s 9th Annual Fall Festival

When/Where: Sat. Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: The Fall Festival was founded as a way to give back to the community. Attendees are asked to bring canned and dried foods, which will benefit Yorktown Community Help. Some of the events planned include arts and crafts, a car show, pumpkin patch, homemade bake sale, fall plants sale, food and live entertainment, as well as a Kid’s Zone that will include a petting zoo, face and pumpkin painting, bouncy houses and games and prizes.

Somers: Giant Tag Sale

When/Where: Saturday, Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. at Reis Park on Rt. 139

Why go: The tag sale, sponsored by the Somers Women’s Club, will include books, toys, jewelry, baked goods, household items, plus over 35 outside vendors.
