Spontaneous Combustion Season Starts Early
Several brush and mulch fires were reported by the village fire departments recently.

Sun, dry conditions, plus wind and no leaf cover have resulted this year in a few "red flag" days according to the National Weather Service, when fires just seem to begin on their own.
This has been a concern so far this spring all around the region and beyond with publications from York, PA to North East, MD, writing about fire crews battling these spontaneous blazes.

Tarrytown Mulch
A caller reported a mulch fire on White Plains Road recently. On April 5 at 4:33 p.m., the caller said the fire was on the west side of the building at 555 White Plains Road. The Tarrytown Fire Department responded to the scene.

Sleepy Hollow Brush
County Control toned out the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department to respond to a report of a small brush fire on College Avenue several weeks ago. Officers reported that they extinguished a small fire near 15 College Avenue.
