Tarrytown Arrests: Road Rage, Taxi, Heroin

Tarrytown police arrests from April 8 to April 17.

Mini Cooper Road Rage

State Police requested local police assistance on April 8 at 10:27 a.m. with a road rage incident on South Broadway.

Tarrytown Police responded to the scene at 480 South Broadway, near the Honda dealership, where they arrested one person for unlicensed operation of vehicle and a duty tow for a Mini Cooper. The defendant was released with a return court date.

Unlicensed Taxi, Unpaid Child Support

An officer reported stopping a car with the Greenburgh Task Force at the Franklin Street taxi stand on April 12 at 9:05 p.m. The taxi driver, Renso E. Camilo, was apparently waiting to pick up customers at the stand without a county for-hire-vehicle driver’s permit.

A police check of his record revealed Camilo also had a suspended license on July 13, 2012 for failure to pay child support. Camilo was arrested and taken to headquarters where he was charged with:

  • aggravated unlawful operation in the third
  • and unlicensed operation of a taxi

and given a return court date.

The car was turned over to the taxi owner in headquarters. Owner Luis H. Alvarez was also issued a court date for permitting an unlicensed taxi driver.

Another Franklin Street car stop

In another Franklin Street arrest, officers report pulling over a 2002 Honda in front of police headquarters on April 12 at 9:05 p.m. whose driver was on the phone, without a headlight and in possession of marijuana.

A 23-year-old man was issued violations for:

  • unlawful possession of marijuana,
  • equipment (headlights),
  • and unlawful use of mobile phone in a motor vehicle.

The car was impounded, evidence was secured in a police locker, and he was issued a court date.

Heroin Arrest

The Greenburgh Task Force reported to Tarrytown police a traffic stop that lead to heroin arrest.

Task Force officers stopped a car on Cortlandt Street on April 16 at 4:56 p.m. A check revealed the operator to have a suspended driver’s license. The force further reported finding the driver in possession of a quantity of heroin.

Tyler A. Kubichko, 22, was charged with:

  • aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and
  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • and transported to headquarters for booking. Kubichko was released with a court date with evidence secured in locker. 

Criminal Sale

A Tarrytown detective reported the arrest of a man for alleged criminal sale of a controlled substance on April 17 at 9:53 a.m. at 1 Depot Plaza following an investigation.

Darren Ciofalo, 27, was charged with:

  • criminal sale of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, and
  • criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree. 

Ciofalo was held pending arraignment and was then taken to county jail pending a court hearing.
