'Third Friday' Season Begins

Tarrytown's monthly celebration of business and community around Main Street and North Broadway begins again this week.

The theme for Third Friday's return to Tarrytown after a long winter's sleep is, fittingly, a celebration of spring.

For updates, check out (and 'Like') the Third Friday page on Facebook here.

On the stretch of South Washington just off Main Street will be live music from Four Piece Racket band among other family-friendly activities going from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

W@tercooler is having an open house with a fun art-making session for all.

Owner Jenifer Ross writes:

Please join us for an Open House at W@tercooler during the April Tarrytown Third Friday. We are so excited to have the work of Sleepy Hollow paper artist Laura Carraro, on display in the space through the end of May. Stop by during Third Friday and MAKE YOUR OWN! Kids (and parents) are welcome to try their hand at making a paper collage. The artist will provide the paper, glue and scissors and will be available for tips and suggestions as you make your layered paper masterpiece. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Also at W@tercooler on this evening, fundraising fashion queen Tanya Monier will be back with her stash of clothing to sell on behalf of the Howson Children.

Monier writes: "100% of profits are going to the Howson Children's Fund, again. Not a fundraiser, just a sale, and FAB, too, I must say. Lots of  amazing high-end items going for thrift shop prices. I'll be at the W@tercooler, for sure selling by 6 pm."

At Studio A Gallery from 6 to 9 p.m. is the opening reception for Hudson Valley Vista, an exhibition of Plein Air Landscapes, by artist Denise Petit Caplan. Works will be on view through May 12.

Finally, for those hanging later on Main Street, Tarrytown's Juke Joint will be playing at the Set Back Inn around 9:30 p.m.

From the Joint's Mary Kohrherr:

It is THIRD FRIDAY and it is an extra special show because the fabulous HORN SECTION (one cimbasso, four trombones and two trumpets) will be joining us once again and this time they are playing the FIRST SET with us starting at about 9:30pm. This is a great opportunity to get to hear these great players at an earlier time than usual. So come on out and enjoy some good music with good friends and neighbors -- we'd love to see you...you never know who might show up...
