Cops: Queens Man Seriously Injured in Stony Brook Accident

Crash happened early Sunday morning.

An early morning crash in Stony Brook has left one man hospitalized with a serious injury, Suffolk police said Sunday.

Alvin Simms, 53, of Rosedale, was a passenger in a 2011 Ford van driven by Djibril Diallo shortly before 6 a.m. on Sunday when the van veered off the road and struck a utility pole on North Country Road. 

Simms sustained a serious back injury and was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital. Diallo, 57, from the Bronx, was treated for minor injuries at Stony Brook.

Police impounded the van for a safety check; the investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have information on the crash to call the Sixth Precinct at 631-854-8652.
