The Long Island music hall of fame will open its first-ever physical location, a 8,000-square foot "Cultural Center" in Stony Brook Village.

STONY BROOK, NY — The Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) will get its first-ever physical home in Stony Brook. The board of trustees of the nonprofit announced last week that they've inked a long-term lease with the Ward Melville Heritage Organization for an 8,000-square-foot Education and Cultural Center.

“We are thrilled that LIMEHOF has found a permanent home in such a wonderful location,” Ernie Canadeo, Chairman of LIMEHOF, said in a news release.

"It’s in great condition and we’re looking forward to creating world-class displays that showcase Long Island’s rich and diverse musical and entertainment history in new and exciting ways. We will feature different and exciting exhibits, displays, videos and education offerings that will make our center a dynamic place for people of all ages to visit on a regular basis."
The center will have its own Hall of Fame displays, showing the 100 members so far, classrooms, a library and a main exhibit space.

The first featured exhibit will be “Long Island’s Legendary Club Scene: 1960s-1980s.”
Gloria D. Rocchio is the president of the Ward Melville Heritage Organization, and she explained that the building was a perfect fit for LIMEHOF.
“With all the other attributes in the Stony Brook Village, such as restaurants, shops, parks, Discovery Boat, kayaks, historic buildings and hotel, this is a perfect addition. The multi-purpose building was constructed to hold exhibits, performances, classes and is wired for distance learning. When I heard that LIMEHOF was looking for a permanent home. I called Ernie Canadeo and the rest is history.”
LIMEHOF was founded in 2004 to celebrate and preserve Long Island's musical heritage, according the organization's mission statement.
