From Hauppauge Patch: Serious Injuries Sustained in Middle School Fight. Schoolyard bullying turned violent this week at Hauppauge Middle School when a seventh grade boy was seriously injured during a bathroom brawl. Principal Maryann Fletcher said that the incident originally came through as an accident, but after further investigation, the administration discovered that it was not.

From Commack Patch: Police: Drugged Driving Ends in Crash. A Commack driver was allegedly on drugs when she crossed over a double yellow line and crashed into oncoming traffic in Smithtown Feb. 15. According to police, Rachel Shavzin, 29, was driving a 2012 Honda Accord on Old Willets Path in Smithtown when she started driving on the opposite side of the road and crashed her vehicle into an oncoming car.

The 'Harlem Shake' has taken YouTube by storm harder than Gangnam Style of late, and one of the most viral videos of the hot trend reportedly stems from the Rocky Point Fire Department. From Sachem Patch: Police Say No Serious Injury in Sachem School Bus Accident. Police say there were no serious injuries involving yesterday's school bus mishap on Empress Pine Drive in Lake Ronkonkoma. Authorities say the bus, carrying middle school students, was turning the corner at the road at around 3:45 p.m. when its rear wheel got caught in a snowbank. The snag caused the bus to lurch. Two girls bumped heads and one hit a side window.

From Smithtown Patch: Creighton to Run for Smithtown Town Supervisor. Patrick Vecchio will have competition from a current town councilman in November when he decides to run for his 13th Town Supervisor term – Robert Creighton. Creighton, a Republican who was re-elected to his seat on the town council in 2011, announced via email statement Wednesday that he will formally make his intention to run for town supervisor known on Feb. 25. He will make the announcement at 7 p.m. at the Smithtown Elks Lodge, located at 120 Edgewood Avenue in Smithtown.
