
CENTEREACH, NY – Two people were injured when a fire extinguisher was accidentally discharged during a safety inspection in Centereach Tuesday evening, Suffolk Police said.
According to police, a Motor Carrier Unit officer was performing a safety inspection on the cesspool truck on Milford Lane by Hammond Road at about 5:50 p.m. when a passenger of the truck accidentally discharged a fire extinguisher.
Both the officer and the passenger were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
