STONY BROOK, NY —Long Island health food chain Organic Krush has opened its newest location in Stony Brook. The eatery, specializing in organic and healthy meals, is in the Stony Brook Square shopping center, 1111 Route 25A.

Two Long Island women, Michelle Walrath and Fran Paniccia, formed the brand in 2015, opening first in Woodbury and then in Amagansett. Since then they have expanded to Plainview, Rockville Centre and Roslyn and out of state.

"We only had one Suffolk County location and it was in Amagansett. Stony Brook was a natural next location for us. We realized quickly that Stony Brook is a community that cares a lot about health and wellness and food."

The menu at the Stony Brook store is the same as the other Organic Krush spots, but this location is the only one with an open kitchen floor plan.

"Our chefs work so hard and create such delicious customized meals, we think it's important to display that expertise and love," the owners explained.

According to the business, the mission of Organic Krush is to "make healthy eating more accessible and attainable, inspiring a higher level of health and happiness."

The stores sell smoothies, to-go items like homemade almond butter, chicken salad and fresh tuna, breakfast all day and customizable meal bowls. There are also juices and shots, as well as vegan and gluten-free options.
