Stony Brook University Cross Country Runner in Critical Condition

The 18-year-old was running across Nicolls Road when he was struck by a minivan Tuesday morning, police say.

UPDATE 2 p.m. Wednesday: Police have identified the person struck as 18-year-old Noah Bernard Farrelly, of Binghamton. He is a member of the men's cross country team at Stony Brook University.

STONY BROOK, NY – A man struck by a minivan on Nicolls Road Tuesday morning was critically injured, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, the man was running across southbound Nicolls Road at the intersection of Health Sciences Drive, crossing against the light, when he was struck by a 2018 Dodge Caravan at 10:50 a.m.

The victim, who was not carrying identification, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. The driver of the Dodge, a 65-year-old Patchogue man, was not injured. No criminal charges have been filed.
