- Police are alerting parents in the Stony Brook, Setauket, Three Village and Port Jefferson communities about a sinister Halloween prank that can result in a life-threatening situation. A teenage girl from Setauket found a razor blade inside a chocolate bar she collected while trick-or-treating. Officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact authorities. - Staller Center features tenor Matthew Polenzani in a live music concert in memory of Howard Scarrow Sunday. Polenzani has been entertaining audiences with his music and powerful voice since 1997. The show starts at 3 p.m. The Staller Center is at 100 Nicolls Rd, Stony Brook. (Staller Center)

- A pedestrian was transported to Stony Brook Hospital in serious condition after being struck while crossing Route 25A. The driver was an 18-year-old from Miller Place who wasn't injured during the crash. Police took the vehicle for a safety check. (Port Jefferson Patch)
