Porch Pirate Swipes IPhone From Setauket Doorstep: Police

The suspect bolted from the neighborhood in a black SUV, Suffolk police said.

SETAUKET, NY — A suspect swiped a package containing an iPhone last month in Setauket, Suffolk police said.

The man stole the package from the porch of a Vento Lane home on Oct. 19 at around noon, and the he bolted in a black SUV, according to police.

In images from surveillance video, he can be seen wearing dark-colored pants and a hoodie before fleeing in the SUV.

The crime has been classified petty larceny, according to an alert.

Suffolk's Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
