Power Outages Hit Three Village Area

Monday's storm causes LIPA customers to lose power.

UPDATE, 12:40 p.m. – According to LIPA, most of Monday morning's power outages in the Three Village area have been restored.

UPDATE, 11 a.m. – According to LIPA, power has been restored to approximately 150 customers, with the remaining outages slated to be fixed by 12:30 p.m.

As a thunderstorm roars through the Three Village area Monday morning, approximately 250 LIPA customers are without power as of 10:00 a.m.

According to an outage map published on LIPA's website, the bulk of those outages are in the Stony Brook area west of Nicolls Road and north of Route 347, as well as the East Setauket area west of Old Town Road and north of Route 347.

Those outages are slated to be fixed by 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to the map.

In addition to the severe thunderstorms, the National Weather Service is warning residents to be on the look out for flooding due to heavy rains, where up to 1 inch of rain per hour are possible. 

Motorists are warned not to drive vehicles into flooded roadways, where the depth of the water may not be obvious.
