SCPD Marine Bureau Offering NYS Boating Course

The Suffolk County Police Department Marine Bureau is offering the New York State Safe Boating Course four times in 2014 and participants are encouraged to reserve early for the two-session course.

Here are the dates for the sessions:

• January 13 and 15, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• February 3 and 5, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• March 10 and 12, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• April 8 and 10, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Course sessions will be held at the Suffolk County Police Academy, located at 502 Wicks Road in Brentwood. Participants must be at least 10 years old and those under 16 are asked to attend with a parent or guardian.

The course is free but there is a $10 fee for a NYS permanent card.
