Students from schools in Three Village will compete at the Long Island Regional Spelling Bee after winning their school-wide competitions.
Three Village students showcased their linguistic skills this winter by participating in school spelling bees at R.C. Murphy Junior High School, Setauket and W.S. Mount Elementary Schools, according to a school news release.
After winning their classroom bees, the students competed in the school-wide contests. Each contestant took turns spelling challenging words as they battled for several rounds for the chance to earn the top speller title.

Jonathan Huang was named the winner at Murphy Junior High with the word molasses; Ryan Himmelsbach was named the winner at Setauket Elementary with the word secession, and Daphna Fineberg was named the winner at W.S. Mount Elementary with the word migraine, according to the release.
The school spelling champs will now compete in the Long Island Regional Spelling Bee, the release states.

P.J. Gelinas Junior High School will host a school bee at the end of January.
