• On Thursday evening at 6 p.m., families can enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides around the Stony Brook village community for $3 per person. Meet near Robinson’s Tea Room in the village center.

• The “Wind Down Sundays” summer music series at Frank Melville Memorial Park continues with a free performance by the band Certain Moves at 5:30 p.m. Bring a blanket or beach chairs.
  
  
• You’ll also find a free outdoor performance on the village green in the Stony Brook Village Center from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. This week’s performance is by Eastbound Freight Bluegrass.

• Check out a foreign film for free at the Port Jefferson Free Library at 2 p.m. on Friday. The film, “No,” is a Spanish film starring Gael Garcia Bernal.

Health & Wellness

• The weekly farmer’s market in Port Jefferson Village is set for Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Family

• On Thursday at 6 p.m., Port Jefferson Village will host a free children’s show by Erin Lee & the Up Past Bedtime Band at the barn behind village hall.

• The Maritime Explorium is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. between Wednesday and Sunday and features various hands-on activities for the kids ($5 per person).

Community Benefit

• On Friday at 6 p.m., Hope House Ministries will offer a free seminar on preventing opioid drug overdoses. Space is limited so registration is required.

• Teachers Federal Credit Union in Port Jefferson Station is holding an informational session about its products and services on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. The event will feature free food and a raffle to win a new car.

• Crazy Beans is holding a comedy show Friday night, as the Naughty Mommy, Maria Walsh, as well as Mick Thomas and Scott Schendlinger, will be performing. The show kicks off at 8 p.m., and cost is $15.

• If you’re heading east, or are just a big country music fan, out in Riverhead this weekend, Country Fest is being held at the 4-H camp on Sound Avenue. The two-day event will feature 12 bands, craft vendors, barbecue, line dancing and more. Cost is $10 and kids under 10 get in free.

Art

• Also out east – though the organization hails from the area – the North Shore Art Guild is hosting its first annual En Plein Aire Art Exhibit at Cornell Cooperative Extension from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Car Show

• The Miller Place-Mt. Sinai Historical Society is hosting its Sixth Annual Car Show & Historic House Tour. Held at 75 N. Country Rd., in collaboration with the L.I. Street Rod Association, the show will run on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $6, and kids under 12 are free.

Food Fair

• Also on Sunday, from 4 to 8 p.m., the Sound Beach Civic Association is holding its Fifth Annual Food Fair & Chinese Auction at the fire house. Local restaurants offer dishes to sample. Tickets are $20, and kids under 10 get in free.
