  1. Protests against mask mandate grows all over Long Island. Gov. Kathy Hochul's mandate requires businesses that don't ask for proof of vaccination to wear masks indoors. A fine up to $1,000 will apply per violation. One of the protests took place outside a New York State Office Building in Hauppauge where health care workers protested against the new measures.   3. Bill Leonard was born on Dec. 21, 1928 and spent his childhood in Setauket. He was an ocean lover and served the Marines as an engineman aboard naval ships in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. He passed away on Aug. 15. According to his wish, no formal service were held on his honor. Contributions to the church in Bill’s memory may be made to: Bethel A.M.E Church, 33 Christian Ave., P.O.   4. Setauket Elementary School sixth graders did a wonderful job in getting the school decorated for the holidays. Using their artistic talents, students painted little villages in the windows and displayed artwork all over halls and classrooms. (Three Village School District)
  5. Many may not know but the Three Village Historical Society offers a program for elementary and middle school students. Donna Smith is a retired teacher and leads students through Brookhaven history in a very interactive way.
