  1. Meet Attorney Mark Freeley and his volunteer work with rescued dogs. Freely, a longtime Stony Brook resident, helps clients fight with insurance companies but, in his free time, he works as a volunteer at Last Chance Animal rescue in Southampton. "I meet the transport van in Patchogue every Saturday, when they bring up rescued dogs from South Carolina. I’m in charge of all the collars and leashes and making sure the right dog is going to the right foster family,” he explained. “When that van opens up and you see it full of animals that have been saved from being killed, all that effort is worth it.” Click on the link to learn more about how the attorney is making a difference all over Long Island.   3. A debit card was stolen from a car in Terryville. Suffolk County Police are seeking the public’s help to identify a man who used a stolen debit card at a Home Depot in Coram. The card was reported stolen from a Terryville residence on Dec. 10. The same day, the man used the debit card at the to purchase several gift cards. The merchandise was valued at $390.   4. Stony Brook Hospital pediatric admissions are rising with the omicron wave. Dr. Sharon Nachman, a pediatric infectious disease specialist, recommends children and parents get the vaccine together to form a shield around one another and to protect those who are too young to get the vaccine. Nachman said most of the younger children recover quickly, but some have trouble breathing and need to be sent to the pediatric ICU. (News 12 Bronx)
