- On Monday, March 21 at 7 p.m., Three Village Historical Society will host its next lecture series via Zoom. The webinar will take you back in time to April 1834 when the Long Island Rail Road was formed. (TVHS)
- First graders at Setauket Elementary School learned about the Science of Sound. In a dynamic exploratory lab, students explored the sound/vibration games and activities addressing water and sound, resonance, timber, and more. (TVSD)
- Town of Brookhaven will offer spring education programs for residents once again. On March 26, The Town's Safety Department will host a free bicycle rodeo to teach kids about safety. - Nearby News: A Thai Shack East officially opened at the Plaza in Selden. The new eatery is located at 389 Independence Plaza in Selden and is owned by Donald and Kay Norton. (Daily Voice)
- The Port Jefferson Documentary Series will continue in the spring season with a screening of "Refuge" at Theatre Three. "Refuge" is a story about fear and love in South America and will be on screen on March 14 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person at the door or register in advance at www.portjeffdocumentaryseries.com. - A group of Rocky Point High School technology class students, who created a prosthetic hand for a 6-year-old Indonesian boy born with no fingers on his right hand, were honored on March 3 by Brookhaven Town officials. Last fall, six technology education students created a 3D prosthetic hand for Anan Suastika as an answer to a plea from his father to help him with his disability. (Patch)
