  1. Amber Luo, a senior at Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, conquered third place in the Regeneron Science Talent Search. The student earned a $150,000 prize on Tuesday night as the result of her achievements in the prestigious science competition. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
  2. Join national historian Mike McCormack at Emma Clark Library for a celebration of Irish culture. The event will also feature musician John Corr, who will regale you with ballads, dance melodies, and amazing details & background to the songs of the Emerald Isle. Nonprofit Paws of War, located in Nesconset, is helping to rescue "Musket," a therapy dog overseas back to the U.S. Musket is a loving dog rescued overseas and the first dog to be part of an innovative program to help United States troops stationed. The program uses rescued dogs as therapy dogs to help soldiers to cope with emotional issues. Now, Musket's work is done, and the nonprofit aims to bring him to the U.S. so he can continue his work as a therapy dog. (Patch)

  • "After an almost two-year hiatus, the Great South Bay Music Festival, presented by Blue Point Brewing Co., has announced that they are back and bigger than ever.
