  1. Suffolk police received a 911 call about a van in flames with two passengers inside on Country Road in Coram last Saturday. The driver, from Mount Sinai, was transported to Stony Brook Hospital with non-life- threating injuries. The other passenger, a non identified woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said it's a non-crime nature investigation. (Port Jefferson Patch)
  2. It's the season of giving and a 9 years old girl from Long Island helped Santa with an outstanding donation for the children at Stony Brook hospital. The little Santa helper raised $600 selling chocolate pops and was able to buy 50 items of goodies to give them out as Christmas presents. (WABC-TV)
  3. Firehouses have been hosting the most fun holiday this events this season such as Christmas parades. Firefighters drive around neighborhoods with emergency flashing lights on and honking loudly in decorated firetrucks with Santa in the back!   4. New family owned hair salon opens in Stony Brook. JJ Family Hair Salon is located at 1069 North Country Road, Stony Brook.   5. A baking shop in Rocky Point is showing their German roots this year. Tilda's Bakery shop opened 66 years ago and is well know for their traditional delicious treats such as red velvet cake, rainbow cookies and other local favorites but, this year, they are selling some of German bakes specialties and its has been a success.
