Students in Mr. Herrel’s ninth grade wood systems class at P.J. Gelinas Junior High School in the Three Village Central School District recently created their own cutting boards.

The ninth graders chose from a variety of hardwoods of different sizes and patterns. Throughout the project, they focused on proper gluing, sanding and finishing techniques. Students also learned about proper care for wooden cutting boards and how to keep them food-safe.
