Weekend Guide: Halloween, Arts Events in Full Swing

Patch picks for weekend fun.

We sure hope you've got your costumes all set. There's plenty of Halloween fun coming up this weekend, along with several arts events and your fall sports action.

Halloween for Kids & Teens

  • On Sunday at the Long Island Museum, there will be a Halloween party from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. that will feature free admission and children's activities.
  • The Minnesauke Elementary Halloween Festival is at 6 p.m.
  • The Nassakeag Elementary 6th Grade Halloween Party is at 6:30 p.m.
  • The Setauket Elementary 6th Grade Monster Bash is at 6:30 p.m.
  • The Mount Elementary 6th Grade Halloween Party is at 7 p.m.
  • Check out Dr. Demon's Traveling Spook Show at Olde Towne Gardens.

Halloween for Grownups

  • Bliss Restaurant will have its annual Halloween party on Saturday night, featuring local songstress Carolyn Benson. Come in costume.

Food & Drink

  • Wine tastings will take place on Friday at Lake Side Emotions in Stony Brook and Saturday at Mora's in East Setauket.

Sports & Recreation

  • Miller Place visits Ward Melville for a field hockey game at 4 p.m. on Friday.
  • Half Hollow Hills visits Ward Melville for a gymnastics showdown on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
  • Watch Ward Melville take on Northport in varsity football action on Saturday at 2 p.m.
  • On Saturday at 9 a.m., head down to West Meadow Beach for a birding walk at 9 a.m. (adult program). Email egerle@brookhaven.org to register.

Family

Arts & Exhibits

  • Gallery North's new show is a solo show by Christian White, whose art "illustrate[s] a process that finds abstract qualities in subjective motifs and attempts to unify some modernist and minimalist ideas with the artist's general bent towards formal realism." With an opening reception on Friday at 5 p.m.
  • Check out "Journey of an Artist: Joseph Reboli" at the Ward Melville Heritage Organization's Educational & Cultural Center.
  • "America's 1950s Frontier" is showing at The Long Island Museum of Art, History and Carriages.
  • The 32nd Annual Setauket Artists' Exhibition opens on Sunday at the Setauket Neighborhood House at 1 p.m.
