SELDEN, NY — A Long Island woman has been charged in connection with the slaying of a man whose body was found in Stony Brook outside the Stony Brook Yacht Club, Suffolk police said Wednesday.

Homicide Squad detectives charged Kacy Corso, 33, of Setauket, with second-degree murder for the stabbing death of Christopher Millwater, 52, of Selden, according to police.

Corso was held overnight at the 4th Precinct in Smithtown pending her arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, police said.

Corso and her boyfriend Victor Panebianco went to the yacht club, knowing Millwater would be there; Corso reportedly used her car to block Millwater from leaving and then slammed into him, News 12 reported, citing court documents. Panebianco then stabbed Millwater multiple times; he was arrested in North Carolina, according to the outlet.

Corso was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility without bail, court records show.

Her defense attorney, Christopher Gioe of Hauppauge, told Patch that she "has vehemently denied any involvement in the stabbing incident and has not admitted to the charges."

"On her behalf, we have entered a plea of not guilty," he said. "We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation into this matter and defending our client zealously."

Millwater was found injured in front of a location on Shore Road at around 3:40 a.m., and he was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Following his death, his family began asking the community for prayers "that justice be served" in a public post on GoFundMe seeking help in laying him to rest.

In a poignant post on the fundraising platform, his sister, Corinne Millwater, said that one of the most difficult things for her to do is humble herself, but she and her family are "in need."

"We have suffered a lot of loss over the past few years," she said. "This loss being the greatest."

"Those of you who know him know that he showed up for anyone in need," she said. "At this time, my family is in need of donations solely to cover the cost of funeral expenses. We understand that not all are able to donate, but [I] would appreciate that you share, and also pray for our family, that justice is served."

Detectives are asking anyone with information about Millwater's slaying to call the Homicide Squad in Yaphank at 631-852-6392, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, a confidential police hotline.
