• Schumer, in New Paltz, pushes bill to repeal food assistance cuts (dailyfreeman.com) — Ulster County residents relying on SNAP—now estimated around 18,000 people—are at the center of a new push by Sen. Chuck Schumer in New Paltz to reverse federal food assistance cuts. His proposed bill aims to restore threatened benefits as local officials warn of rising food insecurity and overwhelmed food pantries across the county and Hudson Valley.
