92nd Street Y Opens Storefront Space In New Upper East Side Tower
The Upper East Side's beloved cultural center has a new second home inside the enormous luxury tower recently built in Carnegie Hill.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — One of the Upper East Side's most prominent institutions has a new second home, a few blocks away from its namesake street: the 92nd Street Y has opened a storefront space in the neighborhood's newest residential tower.
The new space was announced Monday by developer DDG and Global Holdings: the entities behind the new 50-story, 524-foot-tall building at 180 East 88th St.
In the building's ground-floor retail space facing Third Avenue, 92Y has opened a new programming initiative hosting cultural events and arts classes, the developers announced. Offerings will include 92Y's musical theater training program for children ages 3-18 and rehearsals for 92Y's Theater for Young Audiences program.

Sales are underway in the 47-unit luxury tower, with pricing starting at $1,475,000, the developers say.

"180 East 88th Street embraces craftsmanship and a commitment to the arts, so an opportunity to bring 92Y, the leader of thoughtful cultural and community programming on the Upper East Side, into our building was a perfect fit," said Joe McMillan, founder and CEO of DDG, in a statement.
