UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man who was facing federal charges for stealing wine worth $1.2 million from the home of a Wall Street executive jumped to his death Tuesday from an Upper East Side hotel, police said.

Officers arrived at the Carlyle Hotel on East 76th Street around 2:30 p.m. to find Nicolas De-Meyer unconscious and unresponsive, police said. EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Investigators believe De-Meyer jumped from the 33rd floor of the five-star hotel, police said.
