Aire Ancient Baths Opening New Location On Upper East Side: Report

The spa, which currently operates a bathhouse in Tribeca, will open a second New York City location on the Upper East Side.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY – Aire Ancient Baths will soon open a second bathhouse in New York City on the Upper East Side, bringing its signature luxury spa experience to a 9,600-square-foot, 120-year-old warehouse, according to a report in Spa Opportunities.

No information regarding an opening date is yet available, according to an Aire representative, but the new bathhouse will be located at 305 East 61st Street near 2nd Avenue.

Known for transforming historic buildings into Roman, Greek, and Ottoman-inspired bathhouses, Aire’s latest location will reportedly feature a “Flotarium” salt bath suspended from a ceiling, among other communal bathing facilities.

The warehouse where Aire will be located was reportedly once used by the Museum of Modern Art for storage, meaning you’ll soon be able to bathe where abstract art was once safely sequestered.

Aire, founded in Seville, Spain, in 2000, has since expanded to cities including London, Chicago, Barcelona, and Copenhagen. The Upper East Side location will be Aire’s ninth worldwide.

Aire’s original New York City bathhouse, in Tribeca, is a 16,000-square-foot location at 88 Franklin Street near Church Street.

"It's pretty spectacular," Tribeca Citizen wrote back in 2012, when Aire first opened.
