Barbra Streisand's Upper East Side Townhouse Sells For $15.9M

The art-deco townhouse was the most expensive luxury real estate contract signed in the past week.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY —The five-floor townhouse that Barbra Streisand owned on the Upper East Side has just sold to its next owners, to the tune of $15.9 million.

First reported by The Real Deal, the 25-feet-wide townhouse at 49 East 80th St. was purchased by Streisand in 1970 for $420,000 and is now in contract with new owners at $15.9 million.

In the past week, 22 real estate contracts over $4 million were signed, but the one for Steisand's house topped the charts, according to Olshan Realty.

Just one block over from Central Park and the Museum Mile, the townhouse was where the EGOT-winning artist lived when she performed memorable roles in movies including "The Way We Were" in 1973 and "A Star Is Born" in 1976.

The 1930s-era Art-Deco style mansion was first listed at nearly $18 million in June 2024, The Real Deal reported.

According to the listing on Corcoran's website, the Streisand townhouse is approximately 9,193 square feet and has eight bedrooms, five bathrooms, three powder rooms, and six wood-burning fireplaces.

The home also has a garden on the ground floor, a rooftop terrace, a private garage and an elevator that goes to all five floors.
