Car Flees Scene After Hitting Biker On UES Street: Police
A driver of a large cargo van drove off after smashing into a bicyclist in Yorkville Tuesday evening, officials said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A driver fled the scene after crashing into a bicyclist in Yorkville on Tuesday, police said.
A 32-year-old man was riding his bike in the left lane heading east on East 86th Street at around 12:30 p.m. when a GMC Savana cargo van pulled up to him, police told Patch.
The driver of the van then made a right-hand turn onto Second Avenue and smashed into the biker, knocking him off of his ride and to the ground, officials said.

Police said the driver then fled the scene of the crash.
Luckily, the man only reported suffering a minor injury to his mouth, officials stated.

Since 2018, there have been 19 crashes at that intersection, including two cyclists and 11 pedestrians, according to NYC Crash Mapper, which aggregates vehicle collision data from the NYPD.
