Cop Punched Repeatedly In Upper East Side Scuffle, Officials Say
The man who walloped the NYPD officer in the face Tuesday along an Upper East Side street remains on the loose, authorities said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An NYPD officer was repeatedly punched in the face on Tuesday by a man fleeing an arrest on the Upper East Side, authorities said.
Police said two on-duty NYPD officers were attempting to arrest the suspect near the intersection of East 60th Street and Second Avenue around 1 a.m. for an earlier crime when he attacked one of them.
The attacker repeatedly punched the police officer in the face before quickly fleeing the scene, according to police.

Medics took the officer to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition after the assault, police said.
An NYPD spokesperson said that the officer suffered swelling and pain to his face, as well as a sprained shoulder, in the brutal attack.

Police have requested assistance in identifying the suspect, described as a man with a dark complexion, standing approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing an army fatigue-colored hooded sweatshirt, an army fatigue baseball cap and blue gloves.
