Fire At Upper East Side Transfer Station Under Control
About 60 firefighters were on scene at East 91st Street to fight the fire.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A fire that broke out at a construction site related to the transfer station on East 91st Street on the Upper East Side is under control.
The call for the fire came in at about 2:32 p.m. An FDNY spokesperson said about 60 firefighters were on scene of the fire.
The fire was brought under control about an hour later at 3:24 p.m. The FDNY said the fire was in a sidewalk shed which protects the East River walking/bike path. The fire was not at the transfer station itself but was related to the construction happening at the location.

Smoke from the fire could be seen along the FDR.
