Fire Torches Upper East Side Public Housing Tower, FDNY Says
The fire took an hour to put out.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A fire broke out in a 25-story apartment building on the Upper East Side early Thursday morning, New York City Fire Department officials said.
According to the FDNY, the fire started at 4:43 a.m. on the fifth floor of 1780 First Ave., between East 92nd Street and East 93rd Street.
The building is part of the John Haynes Holmes Towers, a New York City Housing Authority complex.

The fire took an hour to put out, and 20 units, including 78 firefighters and medics, responded to the scene, the FDNY said. Video posted to Citizen shows firetrucks lining First Avenue.
No injuries have been reported, FDNY officials said.

The FDNY has not determined the cause of the fire yet.
