Giant Plaza Hotel Condo Breaks Record With $66M Sale: Report
The sale of the 12,000-square-foot apartment in The Plaza Hotel was the fourth most expensive deal of the year so far.
MIDTOWN, NY — A condo sale in the ultra-posh Plaza Hotel has made the record books for one of the priciest apartments sold this year, according to reports.
Unit 1109, a sprawling 12,000-square-foot apartment, sold for an eye-popping $65.8 million last week, reports The Real Deal.
The sale is officially the fourth most expensive residential deal to close so far this year, says the Real Deal. It was last sold in 2008 for $45 million.

But it's a new record for a unit inside the storied property, smashing the old top sale of Harry Macklowe's 14,000-square-foot seven-unit apartment which sold for $60 million in 2007, the Real Deal writes.
Appraiser Johnathan Miller also told the real estate website that turnover at The Plaza is presently quite high, with about 20 percent of the units currently on the market.

For buyers who feel disappointed that they missed out spending a similar sum on a Plaza pad, there's still Unit 1607 — a 4,500-square-foot duplex unit listed for $50 million.
