Group Of Teens Ambushes UES Man On Park Avenue, Police Say

Teenagers attacked a man on East 88th Street and Park Avenue on Monday night, throwing snow at the man and kicking him on the ground.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man was attacked Monday night by a group of teenagers while walking on an Upper East Side stretch of Park Avenue, an NYPD spokesman said.

The man was walking near East 88th Street and Park Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. when he was punched from behind, police said. The teenage attackers then began hitting and throwing snowballs at the man, causing him to trip to the ground, police said.

While the man was on the ground he was kicked by the attackers, police said. The assault was broken up after bystanders approached the group of teenagers, causing them to flee the area, an NYPD spokesman said.

A police officer that responded to the scene of the assault used surveillance footage from a nearby building to identify an arrest one of the attackers, but the rest of the group evaded custody, an NYPD spokesman said.

The spokesman could not confirm the extent of the victim's injuries.
