Man Arrested In UES Rape: Police
A Bronx man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a recent rape on the Upper East Side, officials said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY – Donovan Murphy, a 28-year-old Bronx man, was arrested in connection with the rape of a 29-year-old woman on the Upper East Side in September, authorities confirmed.
Murphy, who officials said was arrested in the 5th Precinct on Wednesday – that’s Little Italy, Chinatown, and Two Bridges – faces six felony charges, including rape, assault, burglary, and grand larceny.
The victim was at her residence near East 92nd Street and First Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 28, police said, when Murphy broke in and raped her at about 3:40 a.m.

She was reportedly asleep when Murphy broke in, but woke up during the attack, screaming for him to get out. Murphy then reportedly punched her in the face before strangling and raping her.
Before he fled the scene, Murphy stole several of the victim’s credit cards, and it was purchases made with these cards that linked him to the crime, according to amNY.

Following the incident, the victim was transported to Lenox Hill Hospital in stable condition, police said.
